Role overview

We are looking for applications from prospective Invigilators willing to join our expanding IELTS examination operations in Geneva. We welcome applications exclusively from candidates living in Geneva or nearby suburbs.

We are looking for individuals with an eye for detail, English B2 level and good IT skills. The right individual is someone with the ability to keep calm in stressful situations. Current British Council IELTS Invigilators work once every several weeks, mostly on Saturdays, and several times a year on a Thursday. There is also occasionally the opportunity to work on other weekdays.

 In order to apply, email us the completed application form and your CV in English. 

You can apply by email, sending all scanned / electronic documentation to exams@britishcouncil.ch, subject line “Application for IELTS Invigilator”. Please do not send emails that total more than 10 MB (email plus attachments). If you need to send big data, split it into several emails, otherwise our system will reject the message.

  • Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in the week of 11 November and interviews will be held in the week of 18 November in Bern. The results of the interviews will be communicated by the end of the same week.
  • Invigilators’ training will be held on Saturday 30 November. 

Further information for the post: Work permit and visa: all applicants must have a valid work permit and visa to work in Switzerland as the British Council cannot supply these. Successful candidates will have to supply a criminal record excerpt, with accent on child-related misdemeanours without which the agreement cannot be signed.
